Report 2 Migration Green’s Function by a Stationary Phase Approximation

چکیده

The analytical Green’s functions for the equations of zero-offset and non-zero offset migration were previously derived for a homogeneous velocity model and the far-field approximation. These approximations restricted their practical application to field data. I now derive the analytical migration Green’s functions for an inhomogeneous medium using a stationary phase approximation. These Green’s functions are valid for sufficiently high source frequencies, and can possibly be used as an efficient tool for remigration, velocity analysis, filtering and migration deconvolution.

n seismic interferometry , the generalized optical theorem , and the cattering

We have analyzed the far-field approximation of the Green’s function representation for seismic interferometry. By writing each of the Green’s functions involved in the correlation process as a superposition of a direct wave and a scattered wave, the Green’s function representation is rewritten as a superposition of four terms. When the scattered waves are modeled with the Born approximation, i...

The cancellation of spurious arrivals in Green’s function extraction and the generalized optical theorem

The extraction of the Green’s function by cross-correlation of waves recorded at two receivers nowadays finds much application. We show that for an arbitrary isolated scatterer, the cross-terms of scattered waves give an unphysical wave with an arrival time that is independent of the source position. This constitutes a paradox because theory predicts that such spurious arrivals do not arise, af...

Report 3 Migration Deconvolution

The migration section is the reflectivity distribution modulated by the discrete Green’s function for migration. For a poorly sampled trace distribution, the Green’s function introduces noise into the migration image that can obscure its interpretation. Using this migration Green’s function and assuming shift invariance, we propose an economical method to deconvolve the Green’s function from th...

Seismic interferometry and estimation of the Green’s function using Gaussian beams∗

This study investigates seismic interferometry in which the Green’s function is estimated between two receivers by cross-correlation and integration over sources. For smoothly varying source strengths, the dominant contributions of the correlation integral come from the stationary phase directions in the forward and backward directions from the alignment of the two receivers. Gaussian beams can...
